Run by husband and wife team, Leroy and Lauri Dixon, we were thrilled to have Lauri talk to us about their business.
Carla David Design: How did you get inspired to start your company?
Lauri Dixon: Although my husband and I work together, he started the company many years before I “joined” the team! I love people, celebrations, being creative, collaborating, etc and that is what this industry is all about!
CDD: What are some exciting or unique details about your products and services?
LD: Every client and every party are different! I get inspired by the spark in their eyes and the enthusiasm in their voice when the share their vision with you. Once this happens then I can visualize how I can tailor our products and services to best meet their needs. One example is a client I am currently working with – she wants to create a spooky Halloween party for her husbands 50th birthday. Imagine a tent, black carpet, grey krinkle walls, a moon and spooky trees projected on the roof, a large square bar dressed in red with chiavari barstools in the center of the tent, two chandeliers with spider webs hung at the center of the bar, a marbleized black dance floor with ottoman clusters for seating, cocktail tables dressed in black spandex with LED flicker candles illuminating from underneath the tables….. there is your spooky Halloween party! You can take those same products and change a few elements {images projected, colors of linen and wall drape} and you can create an elegant and inviting party space for any type of event.
CDD: What makes you happiest about what you do?
LD: The client. Seeing them excited and hearing that in their voice. The thank you note, the photos they share after the event because it was exactly what they wanted. This is what it is all about for me!
CDD: What goes into organizing and designing something memorable for your clients?
LD: Listening, sharing ideas, and laughter! I believe that the foundation of any successful relationship and event is having an innate desire to truly understand your client, their passion and their vision. Once you invest the time in this you can then begin to design an event that will be meaningful and memorable for them and their guests!
